"Blackletter and Black metal" by Metahaven, 2010
In Uncorporate Identity, Lars Müller Publishers pp 320-332
Metahaven is a design studio based in Amsterdam and Brussels, consisting of Vinca Kruk, Daniel van der Velden, and Gon Zifroni. In 2010 they published the highly conceptual "Uncorporate Identity" which contains, among other speculative essays on design, society and contemporary culture, this chapter which links blackletter with Death Metal bands and Google's reCaptcha system. If you don't believe me, you should read it! One of my favourites from this book which I recommend to anyone interested in this unique intersection of design research with contemporary practice.
